Redwood Ashes
This piece in the Ashes Collection pays homage to the resilience of redwood trees, which are a central inspiration for Found & Found. Redwood seeds can only be released through fire, making the presence of fire a critical part of the redwood’s life cycle. This natural process, where the fire clears away the debris, allows for new growth and regeneration. The Ashes Redwood Necklace captures the spirit of these towering trees, highlighting their lifespan through charred burns and rich reddish-brown hues. Each piece is a tribute to the life and endurance of redwoods, meant to carry a piece of nature with you on your own journey.
Inspired by the Santa Cruz CZU forest fires of 2020, the Ashes Collection pays tribute to the ancient practices of indigenous land stewardship. This sustainable approach to land management, deeply connected to nature, emphasizes a symbiotic relationship with the environment. The fire that ravaged the region led to a powerful reflection on how we care for our lands, and this collection stands as a call to action to revive these practices and create a safer, more balanced relationship with nature.
This piece in the Ashes Collection is crafted from torched redwood that was reclaimed from the MAPS Redwood project, making it not only a beautiful accessory but a piece of history. The redwood used in the collection has been shaped by the flames, embodying the transformation that happens through fire and the renewal of life. Wearing a piece from this collection is a way to show your support for sustainable land practices and environmental stewardship while honoring the natural world.
The necklace features an adjustable length of 10 to 20 inches and is finished with Rubio Monocoat, a plant-based and food-safe oil. The durable braided leather chord ensures a secure fit, while the smooth finish of the wood makes the necklace both comfortable and eye-catching. The Ashes Redwood Necklace is a meaningful symbol of nature’s strength and the enduring call for responsible land stewardship.
