Honduran Mahogany
Honduran Mahogany is renowned for its rich reddish-brown hue, straight grain, and exceptional tonal properties, making it a prized material in fine woodworking and instrument crafting. For centuries, this hardwood has been sought after for its strength, workability, and warm, resonant quality, famously used in high-end guitars, heirloom furniture, and boat building. This particular Honduran Mahogany was sourced from the world-famous Santa Cruz Guitar Company, well known for their expertise in luthiery. Over time, the wood develops a rich patina that enhances its character and beauty. No new trees were cut to create this necklace—it is crafted entirely from reclaimed materials, ensuring that each piece carries a story of renewal and sustainability.
A reminder of how materials, like people, can be restored and reclaimed with care and time. This necklace is not just an accessory—it is a statement of resilience, history, and artistry. The adjustable leather cord provides easy versatility, allowing you to wear the necklace at different lengths to match your style and occasion. Whether worn high as a statement piece or low for a subtle, natural accent, this necklace embodies mindful craftsmanship and the beauty of materials that have lived a previous life. The deep, warm tones of Honduran Mahogany pair effortlessly with both casual and formal attire, making it an elegant and timeless addition to any jewelry collection.
Beyond its storied past in fine instrument making, this wood came to Found & Found through Ventana Surfboards, a company that shares a passion for reclaimed materials and sustainability. Martijn, Ventana’s founder, recognized the connection between crafts and offered a selection of beautifully preserved Honduran Mahogany, inspiring the creation of this unique necklace. Found & Found is the only company in the world creating gem-cut wood jewelry, a craft that requires immense skill and intention. With Honduran Mahogany already being a prized wood, finding reclaimed pieces from a legendary source makes this necklace an exclusive treasure.
By repurposing materials from iconic craftsmanship, this collaboration honors the past while creating something entirely new. From a world-class guitar workshop to an elegant, wearable piece of history, this necklace is a testament to transformation and sustainability.
