Crafted from reclaimed West African ebony and African rosewood, this necklace honors rare materials through a meticulous process rooted in sustainability and intention. The ebony, revived from a 1970s figurine and restored to its deep black hue, anchors the pendant with strength and history, while the surrounding African rosewood—sourced from fine cabinetry drop wood—adds warmth, vibrance, and a refined contrast. Together, they form a one-of-a-kind piece that embodies creativity, ethical craftsmanship, and timeless style.

Product reviews

This one-of-a-kind necklace unites two extraordinary reclaimed hardwoods—West African ebony and African rosewood—into a single statement of timeless design, ethical craftsmanship, and bold elegance. At its center is West African ebony, salvaged from a 1970s figurine discovered at a Santa Cruz estate sale. Originally dehydrated and faded to a soft brown, the wood was carefully rehydrated to restore its natural depth, revealing the dense, velvety black finish that makes ebony one of the most prized and rare materials in fine craftsmanship. Its striking darkness symbolizes strength, history, and reverence for the past.

Framing the ebony is African rosewood, also known as Bubinga—a wood long admired for its vibrant reddish tones, complex grain patterns, and natural radiance. Reclaimed from fine cabinetry offcuts, it brings warmth and vitality to the piece, offering a rich visual contrast while maintaining harmony through its organic elegance. In the hands of Found & Found artisans, both woods are cut and polished using our signature gem-cut technique—a meticulous process that honors the raw material while transforming it into something truly unique.

Suspended from a durable, braided leather cord with an adjustable 10–20" length, the necklace is designed for flexibility and daily wear, with a comfortable weight and a smooth, plant-based Rubio Monocoat finish that enhances the wood’s luster while remaining food-safe and skin-friendly. Every detail—from the hand-finished surfaces to the choice of reclaimed sources—reflects a deep commitment to sustainability, heritage, and modern artistry.

This necklace is more than an accessory—it’s a conversation piece, a talisman, and a celebration of reinvention. Whether worn to make a bold statement or given as a meaningful gift, it represents the enduring power of materials reborn and the beauty found in honoring what already exists.
