At its center is West African ebony, salvaged from a 1970s figurine discovered at a Santa Cruz estate sale. Originally dehydrated and faded to a soft brown, the wood was carefully rehydrated to restore its natural depth, revealing the dense, velvety black finish that makes ebony one of the most prized and rare materials in fine craftsmanship. Its striking darkness symbolizes strength, history, and reverence for the past.

Framing the ebony is African rosewood, also known as Bubinga—a wood long admired for its vibrant reddish tones, complex grain patterns, and natural radiance. Reclaimed from fine cabinetry offcuts, it brings warmth and vitality to the piece, offering a rich visual contrast while maintaining harmony through its organic elegance. In the hands of Found & Found artisans, both woods are cut and polished using our signature gem-cut technique—a meticulous process that honors the raw material while transforming it into something truly unique.
